REALLY good food and love the decor and how they fixed it up. We're really excited about this new joint BUT wow they are charging SO much for beers! It's kind of insulting that a Bud Light is $4.75. In fact, unless they reduce the prices, it's kind of hard to think of this as a new hangout joint for me.

This place is awesome ! Yummy food, friendly staff. I was here for a week and ate here twice and had terrific experience both times. Bought some Pumpkin Honey Butter to take home and oh my....! It was to die for! Also bought some of Fish's Gold BBQ sauce to take home. Love, love, love this place! Did I mention they have fabulous homemade desserts? I will stop here every time I am in NSB, and will also seek out the one in Windermere.

We had lunch today at Yellow Dog Eats. It was great! Since they are just now open, the pulled pork was the choice for us. I had the pulled pork tacos, my mom had the pulled pork sandwich and my sister had the chicken salad. Pork was juicy and sauce was not too sweet -just right. For dessert - we had cheesecake and key lime pie. Key lime pie was outstanding! All in all, cool, friendly, vibe, good food, nice people. Highly recommend!!

Wonderful sandwiches. Club Elvis with cheese and pork is a real winner. I ordered smoked salmon BLT without bread, which was great.

Great food, friendly service, cool atmosphere. I had the Ahi Tuna Tacos and highly recommend them. We didn't see anything on the menu for our young son, but they were happy to make a plain cheese quesadilla for him.

for a $10 sandwich with some chips and about 4 oz of coleslaw i expected much bigger portions between the bread.

Great food and fun atmosphere. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed, but they were friendly. It was a very crowded Friday night.

We love the location in Gotha and have been many times over the years, the NSB location doesn't do it for me. We ate out back as all the indoor seats were full. The Sysco Food Truck delivery arrived right at the height of lunch. We had boxes, a 2 wheeler and several employees counting boxes as they unloaded the truck. It made me think, all the food is processed and nothing is made from scratch, nothing is fresh. For $10 to $12 sandwiches and a bag of chips, there are many places with better quality food and lower prices in the area. It was also disturbing to see the ice comes from a cooler on the ground with a hand scooper in it. This seems VERY unsanitary. At times the lid was on the ground and the guy scooping ice had no gloves. The cooler was dumped out behind the fence with the cooler lid on the ground in the parking lot. I don't think I will be coming back. Maybe they need more time. The staff was very pleasant, the atmosphere seemed nice if we weren't on the loading dock.

Yellow Dog Eats has a lot of hype and they live up to it time and again! From the staff to the food to the sangria you can never go wrong. I typically go for The Rufus which is a heavenly sandwich complete with a generous portion of pulled pork, Brie cheese, cherry peppers, and raspberry sauce. The sandwiches here are huge so you won't go away hungry! The service is fast and super friendly. The last two times we were there we had Chris who always greets customers with a genuine smile and will happily answer any questions you have about the menu and beer selection. If you're in NSB and looking for a great place to grab a bite I highly recommend Yellow Dog Eats!

We went because they were #1 on Yelp. Wanted an alternative to the usual seafood shacks found in the area. Lots of bbq pork on the menu, and I'm not much into that, but the coleslaw on my my pork tacos was amazing. My partner enjoyed his mahi fish taco special, but I found it too salty. Other patrons seemed to be happy. We had the opportunity to bs with both the manager and our attentive waitress. Miranda, you're awesome! Enjoy yet another call out on social media!

My boyfriend and I were on vacation in Orlando. We were recommended by our AirBnB host to check out the beach. While we're driving down, we spotted this place. Pulled it up on yelp and I fell in love with the pictures. We returned after a massive rain system decided to drop by. We arrived in the resturant soaked with water. The staff was so nice! They gave us tons of napkins to dry off! My boyfriend and I ordered tons of food, since we decided to wait out the storm. We got the pulled pork nachos, two different sandwiches and two desserts. Omg. Whatever BBQ they use...it tastes AMAZING! Best hands down. Better than the bbq sauce we have in Texas! The next time we visit Orlando again, we will definitely be back here!

Absolutely loved this place and cannot wait to return. Service was stellar and the food was better! I had the Mr. Smoky and it rocked my face!!! Pulled pork, pineapple slices, fried onions and a delicious sauce. Sweet tea and a brown butter brownie for dessert. Absolutely loved this place ( and as I mentioned earlier) and will 100% be back for more!

Yellow Dog Eats is the only place for lunch in NSB! Their BBQ, sandwiches, and salads are unique and delicious. The atmosphere and patio are just as charming and welcoming as their Windermere location. The service was excellent and the manager came out to greet us and chat. I had the Blue Suede Shoes which was nothing short of amazing. The food quality and presentation is perfect. As always, there are great options for vegetarians and vegans and a great beer selection. This will be my only lunch spot when I'm in NSB!

Every so often I like driving down to NSB and it wasn't until recently that I found out that Yellow Dog Eats opened up a place on Canal so of course I had to try it out! Out of all the neighboring establishments, this was the only one that had people waiting outside to be seated but we didn't wait long as two seats quickly became available at the bar. I like that we were immediately told what the daily special was and as I browsed through the rest of the menu I knew I would be sticking with the special which happened to be a half rack of ribs, coleslaw and a bag of chips for $8.95, the price point really can't be beat as they give you about a weeks worth of food (see pic). I love the sauce used for the ribs as it's tangy, sweet, and spicy all in one. The ribs themselves were fall off the bone tender but had a nice crispy sear on the outside. While we were waiting for our food, the bar tender informed us that one of the beer's and root beer was made locally and my friend ended up ordering the beer which was smooth and very refreshing. During our visit we met some lovely folks who were sitting next to us and visiting from Asheville, NC (A place known for it's numerous microbreweries) and they proudly proclaimed that when they're in town, Yellow Dog Eats is where they come to get some food and good beer; that right there is the seal of approval my friends, they don't come for Mickey Mouse, they come for the Yellow Dog. I will caution however that since this is a popular food destination, it's crowded and bumping elbows with your neighbor is to be expected. While we were still eating, we were asked if we would be doing dessert and when we said no, our bill was immediately brought over and the sense of being rushed to pay and leave was a bit distasteful after our positive experience beforehand. At one point during the meal I was looking for black pepper and realized that none of the tables had salt, pepper or any such condiments, it just seemed odd that they'd leave that minor detail out. On the whole, it was a fun time, the food was good; and I'll definitely return to try more of their food.

Yellow Dog offers delicious flavor combinations in a fun and casual environment. Highly recommend the Rufus, but just know that once you pick it up, you are committed. The patio is fun on a summer evening, and you can bring your dog! They even bring over a bowl of water with ice for the pups.

Great Eatery off of Canal Street this place is among a few new happening venues that is raising the bar for the local restaurants here in NSB. Yellow Dog's niche is it's ability to provide fresh creative cuisine in a atmosphere that is laid back yet very happening and represents an attitude not found in most small beach towns. The menu is small but they have captured the local flavor combinations that represents everything I like it super fresh, light and served up with attention to detail (contra to some of the local establishment's beliefs food that is visually appealing and presented correctly sells). From the moment you walk through the doors the vibe is this is going to be a positive experience. The management team has done a great job staffing this restaurant with lots of smiling friendly people that seem to love their job and provide excellent service. I definitely recommend you give them a try and try the ahi tuna tacos bring your appetite these things are loaded. Hokey Poké Tacos 13.95 Three 6" flour tortillas layered with guava cream cheese spread, scallions, red onions, cucumber, sprouts and Poke Tuna piled into the tortilla then drizzled with Fish's Poke Sauce. Served with tri-colored tortilla chips and homemade salsa. I do agree the beer prices are a little steep but the food is priced right and offsets this making this a great value.

New Smyrna Beach isn't exactly know for its fine dining or world renowned chefs, but between Spanish River Grill, Boston's Fish House and now Yellow Dog Eats, the culinary scene is definitely improving. During a recent beach trip we ventured over to Yellow Dog Eats in search of sandwiches and hopes of discovering a new favorite. Led by Fish Morgan, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Yellow Dog Eats was born out of his natural talents and love for bringing people together over a meal. The New Smyrna Beach location isn't oceanside, but the cozy courtyard and unique decor make up for any longings of a water view. Our meal was tasty and the service was friendly; here's what we tasted and can't wait to try next time. Tasty Picks: Classic Yellow Dog Club - Honey mesquite roasted turkey piled high with smoked Gouda cheese, pecan-smoked bacon, crunchy cucumber, crisp leaf lettuce and orange Cointreau mayo, served on thick sliced multigrain bread. A sandwich that exemplifies simplicity done right - the turkey is thinly sliced, piled between pillow soft bread and mixed with their orange Cointreau mayo. I mean really, why make a sandwich at home when you can order this beauty? Buffalo Soldier Tender - Smoked chicken, Jack Cheddar and Blue cheese crumbles, fresh shredded lettuce, vine ripened tomato, red onion, crispy cucumber slices, orange Cointreau mayo, jalapeno ranch and homemade buffalo sauce all come together in a southwest chipotle wrap. My hope was that this wrap would be spicy, but alsas the mildness was perfect. The wrap was juicy, tender and crisp in all the right ways. A unique take on a classic chicken wrap, if you want some extra spice ask for one of their housemade hot sauces. To Try Next Time: Baa Baa BLT - Twist on a classic with smoked pancetta, vine ripened tomato, field greens, crispy watercress, pecan smoked bacon, savory goat cheese and orange Cointreau mayo, served on sliced multi grain bread. Spice it up with Sriracha mayo and try with their fig sauce. Hokey Pokey Ahi Tacos - Three flour tortillas layered with Hawaiian Pokey style Ahi tuna, Napa Bok Choy, guava cream cheese, scallions, mango cilantro salsa and drizzled with Cusabi buttermilk dressing. Served with tricolor tortilla chips and homemade salsa. Smokey's Smoked Salmon Salad - Fresh salmon, dry rubbed with Yellow Dog's seasoning blend and smoked to perfection. Served on a bed of field greens, garnished with cucumbers, grape tomatoes, carrots, sun-dried fruit & nut blend, sprouts, roasted red peppers, scallions and sliced red onions.

Solid place. I've been to the one in Orlando and this one is just as nice. Their outdoor seating area has a great vibe although it can get a toasty in the summer humidity. They have a bunch of fans and water misters out there, but can still get a bit hot. Definitely recommend the bbq here...and the coleslaw...you just can't go wrong. A couple friends had the ribs and they said it was some of the best they had ever had. We didn't drink this time around, but can't speak enough to the great vibe. Definitely check it out!

We stopped in late one Sunday evening while on vacation. We ordered several beers and the ahi tuna nachos! Absolutely delicious! They have a unique selection of food, beer and decor! We went back later in the week too!

Florida Cracker was messy but full of flavor. I would have preferred the pork to be warm and not cold. The bacon was two small, cold, shriveled up pieces. Also only had one pickle on the large sandwich. I would have liked to see more pickles. The menu says each sandwich comes with chips and slaw. I only got the chips. I'm not sure if my slaw being on the sandwich took its place but I would have liked to have known that prior to ordering. Overall, food was decent but pricey to only come with a bag of chips. For a $10 sandwich one would at least expect fries....

This is my first encounter with either Yellow Dog Eats. On Canal Street in town the restaurant is narrow and goes all the way through the building, opening to a small open area in the back where we ate. Service was excellent, but the food was a little slow in coming because they were very busy (good sign!). I had the mahi tacos which were an off-menu special. They were three very good, basic fish tacos with small chunks of meat, chopped tomatoes and parsley. Chips and salsa come with the meal. We also shared an appetizer of chips and home-made hummus. It is a recent addition to the menu, and the hummus was very good on its own. I would prefer it without the added touches such as peppers and lettuce leaf. In summary, YDE is another great reason to patronize "downtown" New Smyrna, and I will definitely return to try other offerings.

What a great find. Had the special, which was pulled pork, Mac and cheese with brown sugar bacon on Texas toast!!! Topped it off with This ain't your Fathers Root Beer. Wife had Fido plate and she loved it!!! Great people, great food and great service!! You bet will visit the one on Orlando. Even better news he started this all in Winter Park!!!

Chill, nice decor, clean, and delicious BBQ. Great place to go out of your way to get to. We had the mac n cheese, ribs and pulled pork. No regrets, it all was good.

Very good restaurant/bar in the downtown area of NSB (not the Flagler district, the real downtown on canal street)my wife thinks I should stop writing reviews because I keep giving good restaurants four stars instead of five. But I am stubborn, and I will stick to my overly critical ways! Make no mistake about it, this is a very good restaurant with awesome sandwiches and great beer selection. Beer price is fair, servers are nice, and I will be coming back! Honey I love you and do not be upset that I left this restaurant a four. I will sleep on the couch tonight!

Wife and I stumbled upon this fantastic place while on vacation. Bartenders and a gentleman who appeared to be the owner were very friendly. Food was phenomenal. You have to try the ahi tuna nachos!! Great beer Selection as well!

Nice atmosphere, with excellent attentive efficient staff, and very friendly patrons ! And the food is just.... OMG, DELICIOUS !!!! I went with the Florida Cracker pulled pork sandwich that I saw was highly recommended, and I was not disappointed at all !!! The sandwich was fabulous, and a very generous size !!! Everything on the menu sounds wonderful, and the patrons can swear everything they tried is absolutely fantastic. Very large beer selection to fit all needs & tastes. Definitely a must stop for everyone !!

Came to YDE the week of 4th of July and loved it. We did have to sit outside as the inside seems to have minimal seating but they had misting fans on which made the heat a bit more bearable. Quick and good service. I got the Florida Cracker and while it was very good I wish I had been more adventurous in my choice as everything else sounded so good and it was a little basic! Definitely will be coming back!

Hot digity dog wrap... Great! Loved the chili sauce, sweet heat! Definitely a meal with love, great drink selection too!

Food is excellent, really excellent. On our road trip to the South we ate a a lot of barbecue places and Yellow Dog was one of the best. And I say this on the heels of having eaten at several 4 and 5 star bbq places along the way! My husband (another veteran eater of bbq) and I both agreed that this meal ranked way way up there in terms of quality, price, ambiance, and service. I had the What the Fig sandwich which was piled high with succulent pulled pork, delicious bacon, fried onions, goat cheese, and savory fig sauce. Wow! This combination was amazing and I loved the fig sauce. I really wanted to take a gallon of it home with me. My husband had the ribs and they were phenomenal--great smoke flavor, beautiful crust, tender meat. Our dining partners had the Club Elvis and the Hokey Pokey Ahi tuna tacos. Both were excellent in terms of quality, flavor combos, and presentation. And size...portions are hearty and generous so definitely come hungry! We sat out back in the patio area and were treated to live music under the stars. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. Ambiance of both the indoor and outdoor seating is charming and comfortable. I can't wait to go back to NSB and eat at Yellow Dog again. Top notch.

I've been coming down to New Smyrna Beach for years, and I'm so happy to find a kitchen that competes with my favorite places from Los Angeles to Chicago. On my last night in town, I took my mother here for dinner. On the menu, there's probably something for everyone, but barbecue pork is what you should be craving because you're missing out if you don't order it! I had the "What the Fig" pulled pork sandwich, which had the most perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. I'm not even a huge BBQ guy, but it sure made me believe. Even though the night we visited was a bit cold outside, we had a great time on the patio thanks to plenty of heaters, cozy lighting, and the sounds of live music.

Great place for lunch. Very friendly staff and the food was amazing. The pulled pork sanchwich was amazing and they have different lunch specials every day. We went to this place twice while at New Smyrna Beach.

  • Michael T.

Excellent eats. Only a few tables inside along with the bar. We sat outside and were quite comfortable as they have misters on their fans. Another great consideration: the entertainment played acoustic guitar and you were able to both enjoy the music, conversation, and the food at the same time. Now for the food: fantastic! Had the pulled pork nachos (highly recommended) and the ribs which were excellent. They have a yellow sweet Bbq sauce that is fantastic. Server was highly knowledgable about the beers available and very attentive. Overall a great experience and we will return!!

I took a group of co-workers here after a LONG day with a customer. I wanted to love this place based on the reviews. Our server was working really hard but continued you forget items. She recovered and apologized a couple of times. No worries, we are all human. Chips, salsa, hummus were all good. The menu is limited. Which is fine as it's focused. Pulled pork sandwich with the "fuzzies" added had huge potential, but the food was just warm. The sauce is a mustard based BBQ and didn't sit well on a just-warm pork sandwich. The rest of the team seemed to enjoy their meals but no one was jumping for joy. I'll swing back again because the place seems to have momentum. We may have just seen an "off night".

  • Chris T.

I have to say this place is awesome! Between the decorations, friendly food and the staff my first visit will not be my last. The inside dining is small but with a large bar plenty of seating. I had the blu suede sandwich and it was the best and most unique pulled pork sandwich I have ever had. If your in the area this place is a must go to!

After visiting the original, I was really excited to see they opened a second location in New Smyrna Beach. We make it a stop on the way home from all beach trips! I always stick to the pork sandwiches (Elvis Presley and the fig are two of my favorites) and love their root beer on tap. The staff is friendly and the spot is cool! There's an outdoor space in the back on nice days.

Excellent example of South Carolina style mustard BBQ. Their sauce rivals anything you can find in Columbia. Plus the pulled pork nachos are off the chain.

Wow! New Smyrna FINALLY has a "foodie" town restaurant. Everything we had was very tasty, presented well, and filling. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the staff. They were all very warm & welcoming. We showed up right at 11:00 when they opened for lunch. We were the first in, and I'm glad we were because by the time we left close to 11:45 the entirety of the indoor seating was occupied and patrons who were coming in sat out on the patio. We looked at the patio to see what it looked like. I want to go back in the evening & sit on the patio & listen to the live music one evening. It looks great out back. Our food came quite quickly. I had the Pulled Pork Salad & my husband had the Buffalo Soldier Wrap & a half rack of ribs. My salad had many great ingredients mixed in and was quite flavorful with a heaping mound of tasty & tender pulled pork on top. The Buffalo Soldier tasted fresh with a lot of quality bleu cheese in the wrap. Try the cole slaw too. It come with sandwiches & is da bomb! We WILL be back!

  • Brian N.

This place left me absolutely speechless! I ordered the Mr. Smokey and my wife ordered the Holy Crap and holy crap was everything EXCELLENT! The Mr. Smokey was hands down the best pulled pork sandwich I've ever had. It's very tender smoked pulled pork topped with crispy onions, smoked pineapple slices, crispy bacon and some kick ass bbq sauce. I honestly cannot say enough about this place. Our waitress was awesome and the outdoor eating area was definitely cool. There's definitely other items on the menu that we wanted to try and we'll be back to or hit the Orlando location. And if you leave room for desert, get the carrot cake! They're made at a locally owned small bakery right down the street.

We stumbled on Yellow Dog via a friend's recommendation and are very happy they told us about this place. It's a quaint little location in the middle of historic downtown New Smyrna Beach, FL. The seating in the main section/bar of the restaurant is limited so if you arrive during normal "eating hours" be prepared for a wait. There is also a seating section in back, but this can also fill up quickly. So far, we haven't strayed from the BBQ and haven't ever been disappointed. We've tried the Florida Cracker, Bleu Suede Shoes, Club Elvis, and one of their specials called "Drunken Cow". All are AMAZING. There's something in the BBQ sauce that has you hooked from the first taste. In speaking with the staff, there's a baker that comes in later at night and makes all the desserts fresh for them. The chocolate PB pie is awesome along with the chocolate brownie. Generally we don't have room for dessert so we haven't tried the others yet. Give this place a shot, you won't be disappointed!

I would highly recommend the jolly green giant! So yummy! And my husband LOVED the Florida Cracker, it did indeed make him want to slap his grandma.

The world needs more places like this. Simple menu, simple drink menu, and everything looks good. We got the pulled pork tacos and the pulled pork salad. The tacos were nuts. One order could feed the both of us, and the taste was unbelievable. The slaw with the black beans, the sour cream with the cheese, it was great. The salad was anything but dainty. There was probably more pork on the salad than the sandwiches I saw, and they put sauce, pickles, onions, and crispy onion bits in it too, so it felt like a meal. They even supplied ranch, for whoever needs the touch of dressing. Absolutely not necessary, but awesome. Happy hour lasts til 8 and they have draft root beer! This is the place to go. Real reasonable and real worth the trip. There are several spots in New Smyrna to hit, but this was a huge win.

The first time I went here was to celebrate a family member's birthday in November. I ordered the nachos but wasn't overly impressed. The chips seemed like just generic multi-colored tortilla chips and there were too many of them for the toppings. I follow YDE on Facebook and have seen some really delicious looking pictures posted so decided to try it again when my adult children came to visit from California last week. Wow, I'm really glad I gave it another try. This time I ordered the What the Fig and it was really wonderful. The jalapeno jelly-type sauce is out of this world. Others in my party got the tacos and they were very generous sized servings. It was so good we ended up going back again a few days later. Be advised that this place is always busy, especially on the weekends. Seating is limited as is parking (we ended up getting a parking ticket) and there can be a bit of a wait. Service is pleasant and efficient, our waitress on our last visit actually remembered all eleven of our orders correctly without writing them down.

For somebody who doesn't like seafood or barbecue this place was really good! My boyfriend got the Holy Crap and loved it and I got the chicken wrap, it was a little messy but really great!

JUST LISTEN -------GET THE HAND MADE DRAFT ROOT BEER from NSB Brewery just around the corner that Chef Fish Morgan had brought in. This food is too great for humans !! Yellow dog with CIA trained chef is only place to go. Root beer like the 1800s.

A++ - Service was great and the food was SUPER good. Definitely recommend this place for sandwiches and drinks. We had the Holy Crap & Johnny Rocket sandwiches. We had a table outside too. It was nice sitting out there. They even had misting fans going.

Right on Canal Street in NSB. Great, friendly wait staff and manager was visible and keeping things in check. Very lean, tasty pulled BBQ. Sandwiches, BBQ tacos, BBQ nachos, and salads to choose from. Had BBQ rib special for the day. The pork was already sauced and tasted great. Glad we stopped in and will go back again.

My sister and I decided to visit Yellow Dog to celebrate our birthdays. We were lucky to get the best seat in the house which was a delightful ceramic table in the back of the patio. Perfect! The menu is a combination of Mexican meets barbeque. I have had this twist once or twice before and always find it a nice change. We had our wonderful server John help confirm our choices though I don't think you can go wrong at this restaurant. We ordered chicken nachos and a bbque pork sandwich wrap. Omg...both amazing. And very generous portions. We complemented our meal with very reasonably priced glasses of wine. Our service provided by John was perfect. Made for lovely casual bday celebration. Check it out!

Stopped in for lunch on Sunday afternoon. I had a half rack of ribs and my wife had hokey pokey ahi tacos. Service was very friendly and fast. The food was way above average and well worth the price. I would definitely recommend this place.

Great find in NSB. Food is awesome. I had the Club Elvis BBQ sandwich. Excellent!! My only complaint is that unlike the restaurant information it wasn't really good for groups. We had a party of 11 and we had to split up and sit outside where they turned on the misting fans right on our table. I would definitely go back though!

Fun place ... Great music - funky decor. Limited seating inside. Menu is small but everything we sampled was great. Had the ahi tacos = Delicious!!!! Hubby had a pulled pork sandwich - also a winner! Good beer selection. Will definitely go back! Wish they had various side options instead of just chips.

Went to the movies with my wife and son and thought that, considering the reviews, we'd give it a try. The movie "Interstellar" was really very good but I've seen better. The restaurant, "Yellow Dog Eats", was very good but, BBQ, Pulled Pork, I've had better. The three of us had very different pulled pork sandwiches ...and they were very good (not transcendent) but very good ... Go there, enjoy. But one of the "alternative" sides was chili. Now I love chili and I understand the regional differences about chili ... It was spicy (a plus) but it wasn't even warm ... Maybe room temperture. Purists may argue about the use of kidney beens and I'll accept that argument but, it had to be, at least, hot. It wasn't, as if somebody was paying attention. Instead of ground meat there was shredded pork (seriously good) and a nice amount of spice ... But was off the stove for a few hours that that even the shredded cheese wouldn't melt?? Meal ??? 3 stars. Chili??? 1/5. I do so much better at home. And mine is hot when I serve it. Go. Support local restaurants. But but don't think you're getting a "down'n'dirty culinary masterpiece. How's this for damning with faint praise??'"it's really quite good!" But .....

  • Joann S.

In a word, yum! We happened upon this place by accident. BF & I both had the special- the hot & bothered- pulled pork, Mac & cheese, bacon, onion straws & siracha- it was so good. Although it had a lot going on, it wasn't overwhelming and all the flavors were quite good. I wasn't adventurous enough to attempt to eat it like a sandwich though. My son had the pulled pork tacos & immediately proclaimed that they tasted like magic. He said they were some of the best tacos he's had. The service was friendly & efficient. The atmosphere was quirky and fun. We would go back for sure!!

I have been to YDE once at the original location but happened to be in NSB and wanted to try this location. After a day at the beach, my son, my husband and I decided to stop in. It was about 2:30 in the afternoon. The main dining is pretty small with a few booths and a bar. I later noticed an outside patio. We sat down and found the menus on the side of the booths. The manager came over and took our drink order. I enjoyed reading the menu. It was filled with sandwiches, salads, BBQ, etc. I could tell I was in for a treat because they mix various flavors together and I was excited to try something different. My husband is a traditionalist--he just went with a BBQ pork sandwich, slaw and chips. Keep in mind, they have amazing choices with BBQ but his sandwich was just BBQ and bread. The BBQ was very good. The sauce had great flavor and I believe they sell it by the bottle. They did not have a children's menu but did let us know they could make several things kid size. We opted for grilled cheese and chips. There was no mention of a fruit side, etc. My three year old had no issues and ate it down. Now, let's talk about what I ordered! Hokey Pokey Ahi Taco's- Three 6" flour tortillas layered with Hawaiian Pokey style Ahi tuna, Napa Bok Choy, guava cream cheese, scallions, mango cilantro salsa and drizzled with Cusabi buttermilk dressing. Served with tricolor tortilla chips & homemade salsa. The Ahi were very nice size chunks (I actually was not expecting chunks) and tasted fresh. The entire combination was refreshing after a hot day at the beach. We experienced a server on her first day and she was good! The manager was encouraging her and keeping an eye on things. I forgot to tell you-we also ordered dessert. My husband had carrot cake and it was really good. I had a brownie with ice cream. It was super rich and hit the spot. We left full, fat and happy! We will be back. The only thing I would recommend would be for management to let people know there is outside back seating because you don't know it as a first time customer. They also have a great beer selection! Enjoy!

Considering I live in Orlando, it's a shame that I finally ate at Yellow Dog for the first time in New Smyrna. It's a cool little spot, the service was great, and the food was fantastic! I had the ahi tuna tacos - and as a self-proclaimed taco connoisseur, I have to say they were amazing! The food was fresh and the way all of the flavors came together was spectacular! My only complaint is that I was so full that I couldn't try the bread pudding. I will definitely be eating here again and would highly recommend them!

One of my new favorite places to go here in town! The food and service are amazing, not a single complaint! We tried the Florida Cracker, Holy Crap, and Pulled Pork Nachos..all exceeded our expectations.

Came here twice this week and they didn't disappoint either time...the food was great and the service was too!

Fresh fun new restaurant! Best sandwiches, great atmosphere, friendly attractive staff, fast turn around- great selection of hot sauces, fun 60's themes, music that still sounds fresh. The dog theme I don't fully understand. I had the "Holy Crap!" Turkey Sandwich. It was highly desirable inspire of the name!

We will definitely be back. It's a small place and it's popular, so if you're in a hurry I suggest you look elsewhere during peak hours. We had the tuna nachos as a starter, I had the tuna tacos, and my husband had the salmon salad. All of it was delicious. Wait staff is very friendly and as a huge dog lover I loved the ambiance (including all the people who brought their dogs). If you haven't been to this place in NSB you need to go. (unless you're in a hurry)

This place is just fun! The food is exactly what you're looking for after a day at the beach. It's extremely good value to boot. The pork is properly smoked and the sauces are excellent. The fish tacos are among the best we've ever had! The nachos are familiar and original at the same time. Nothing on the menu is over about 13 bucks and most of it is 9 or 10. Very nice beer selection that incorporates a good craft selection balanced by the popular domestic swill. Gotta pay the bills. Service has been much better than average especially what we've experienced in the New Smyrna area in the past. I could go through item by item but it's cheap enough you should do that yourself. One quick observation. The fish tacos had the identical micro greens that were on our appetizer at The Rusted Spoon. Exact same. The difference was these were on fish tacos that were perfect versus the expensive and disappointing meal we had at a place that cost us over twice as much for less than half the people. Yellow Dog Eats is exactly the kind of place I'd like own but then it probably wouldn't be as much fun.

We were hangin out at the brewery around the corner and this place was recommended for eats. I am sure glad it was. The pulled pork nachos were sooo good. They had lots of interesting toppings and plenty of them. We also had a key lime pie. The whipped cream was homemade. The pie was an 8, but the nachos were a 10.

Awesome food! Friendly atmosphere! Staff is always friendly and assertive. We recently discovered this place and keep coming back and back! The sandwhiches are very interesting and unique! Also they have a locally brewed root beer on tap. Had ribs on Saturday (the only day the are offered) and enjoyed them as well! My favorite is the "Elvis club pulled pork sandwhich"!

Working at the hospital all the nurses rave about YDE. As do I, I use to love this place, I say use to because today I decided to get some take out its the only thing I ever order from the menu. I hadn't had it in months so I was all the way turnt up for this delicious wrap. I was met with disappointment when I open the container and my wrap was literally floating in grease. Idk how someone could get that much grease in a damn wrap! I bit into it and of course it was grease the sauce was at the bottom of the wrap, the coleslaw didn't taste tangy but like lettuce with grease. An 11$ wrap full of grease :( not including tip never ever again.

Relaxing atmosphere, great service, and lot of fun. Each portion of food was suitable for two people. We ordered the BBQ nachos. Delicious! Presentation was excellent. Peanut Butter/Oreo Cheesecake was mouth-watering as well! Quality food at Quality Price. We highly recommend eating here

Excellent Pork Tacos-very filling even my hubby had hard time finishing. Baa baa bLT and Pork sandwich was excellent as well. They don't have a printed kidsenu but they make them anything cheesey! Relaxed and comfortable. Def coming back to try the unique menu!

This place just keeps getting better. I have yet to have a bad meal here. The staff is awesome, ambiance is fantastic and the food scrumptious. My favorite place to ear at in NSB hands down!

Awesome food very unique and different offerings, good service, could maybe have a few more selections on tap but not a big deal. A must try if you are looking for a place to eat in New Smyrna.

Great pulled pork and awesome beer on tap. The staff was accommodating to a less than cooperative 2 year old during my visit and our server was helpful with food and drink suggestions. They have a lovely patio out back that is partially shaded and worth trying if it's nice weather out.

I have no problem with the food or service, but I think the seating outside is an accident waiting to happen. There is seating on the "main floor" but one step up is additional seating and you are unable to distinguish between the floor ip stairs and the main floor.

  • Courtney N.

Atmosphere outside is wonderful! Very nice ambiance. My husband and I really enjoyed the bbq nachos and the tuna fish tacos (although the tuna was really large chunks so harder to eat). We will definitely be back.

Not sure I get all the hype. High priced mediocre pseudo craft beer. Sorry Sam Adams and Fat Tire is not craft beer. The pulled pork nachos didn't work, don't know what was on them but it wasn't any cheese you would want on nachos, there was little of it and it had no taste. The tuna in the seared tuna nachos tasted like it was slightly past its due date. The pulled pork itself was flavorful but the sauces were completely pedestrian. If you get a sandwich your creative side is not a typical bbq staple like fries, beans, mac and cheese or collards. Instead you receive a sublime bag of Mrs. Vicker's potato chips. With all the eager reviews I was really looking forward to this. For me it didn't deliver.

Easily the best restaurant I've been to in NSB. Travis was awesome and the food was incredible. This place is still new but I can already tell it's going to be huge. Really shows that good management goes a long way.

I'm not a BBQ fan and haven't had enough to be a good reviewer of BBQ. But here is my input. The portion of BBQ on the sandwich was very good and it was tasty. Smoked Gouda cheese was nice. But, the meat was room temperature. Is it supposed to be at room temp or warm? Again, I don't know BBQ. I believe the sandwich would have been better if it were warm and on a toasted bun. Definitely would have given another star if it were prepared as such. Desserts were homemade and the macaroni side was good.

I hope this place explodes with bussiness. They are new to the area. But it feels like they have been doing it for so long. Very simple concept. BBQ. And do it very well. The pulled pork is some of the best I have ever had. Melt in your mouth. I wish I knew the recipe for the BBQ sauce. Sweet tangy spicy. Has it all. I wish the best of luck to this place.

Well, it was a pleasant surprise to see this place open by the beach. If you're familiar with Yellow Dog you know that they're known for whipping up awesome meals, dishes, sides..you name it. Although this location does not have all the menu items as the original you can still satisfy your carnivorous cravings with a healthy heaping of pulled pork in the many different ways Yellow Dog is known for. I definitely hope they expand this location and open up more throughout C. FL.

DONT GET THE RIBS ! ... Small, tough and not a good sauce. When my friend complained she was told that these were not the usual ribs ... So why did they serve them ? And no offer to adjust the bill ... Hmmm Ok on the other hand I had a really nice vege wrap with some sort of smoky flavor and the baa baa blt was said to be tasty. They only have a beer and wine license. Although happy hour pricing on drinks was in force ... But we had to ask for it ... Hmmm For groups of five or more the only available seating is outside and we were there during a real heat wave. All in all not a bad place for a beer and ok food. I would probably go back but stay clear of the ribs.

Great food. Loved what I had (the Florida cracker) but my fiancé and I drooled over the rest of the menu in the not-even-5 minutes that it took for our food to arrive. Interesting sandwiches, tacos, nachos, etc. And, from a person who doesn't really like cole slaw...yum. Good beer selection, cool atmosphere, and friendly people! Just go. It's awesome.

Tried to go on a Monday not knowing they were closed. Finally got back on a Tuesday to try this place out. Boy am I glad I did!! The "holy crap" is freaking amazing! And I don't even like avocados. This place is fun and upbeat. I will definitely be back!

This place is super cute! There is a nice patio seating outside the back. The staff was very friendly especially our waitress Crystal. I ordered watermelon tea which tasted so fresh (great for floridas hot summers) and my pulled pork sandwich was good the sauce was a little in the sweet side and could've been a little more in proportion but overall still good! I will definitely be coming back.

Great service. I ordered pulled pork -- very tasty! My husband ordered pig w/ benefits pulled pork wrap but not your ordinary wrap. It had lots of blue cheese, lettuce, cukes and more. Both were delicious & served quickly after ordering. Nice selection of beer and other drinks. We got a carrot cake to go and it was wonderful. Creamy, melt in your mouth frosting and the cake was tasty! Plus it was pouring rain outside & they supplied me with an umbrella to go at no extra charge!! Can't wait to go back when they have music.

Wonderful place for dinner. We arrived without a reservation, were welcomed by the bartenders, quickly greeted by a waitress. Asked us to wait 5min while she prepared a table for our group of 6. Seated in the outside patio, music duo was very good. Food was fantastic, the yellow sauce was a nice finish. Great menu for a lot of different tastes. Ordered KeyLime pie to go, it was nothing special. Will definitely visit again next year when we are back in NSB!

If your taste buds have the slightest sense of adventure, come here for a sandwich. The flavor combinations they put together are out of this world. Take a look at the menu if you are close by.

Awesome food, it is just the way they put things together - I had a tuna taco with mango, pineapple, greens and awesome sauce. My sister had a pulled pork sandwich which is absolutely THE BEST I have ever eaten. I cannot wai tto go back! Kudos to the Chef!!!

My FAVORITE sandwhich spot. The Holy Crap is great and the FL firecracker is mouth watering good!! I just moved here and have made this place my spot! They are also dog friendly so we like to bring our pup and sit outback, which is a great little patio for relaxing.

If I was judging solely on the food quality this place would get 5 stars, the food is out of this world. It's such a paradox for me to say I love this place, I literally have had the worst service of my entire life here. I work in the restaurant industry as well so I understand that people can't be perfect, but when several times (I'm talking at least 5 occasions) I am blatantly ignored...it's just disappointing and ruins my whole experience. I have been given food (that requires silverware) and had to wait 5 minutes with the food sitting in front of me before someone brings me utensils. My water cup constantly is empty, I literally have to ask repeatedly for one single refill as the sever just stands in front of me, shooting the shit with other coworkers (at this point my party are his only customers, I guess I should note I am sitting at the bar). It just baffles me how not attentive he was, even when he had nothing else to do. There was food at one point I could see up, just sitting there for at least 5-10 minutes not being run by servers just walking by it, I don't get it. My suggestion for YDE is to revamp their staff, and for the dude who served us to find a different career choice, I think I over heard that he was the general manager as well which made me chuckle. I love your food, I guess I will just have to order takeout from now on. :(

Stopped here visiting from out of town with a friend on Sunday afternoon for an early dinner. The service was relaxed and friendly, and the food was really excellent. We both got a BBQ sandwich and they did not disappoint. I would have never thought to put gouda on BBQ, but it sure was good! And I'm usually not a fan of yellow BBQ sauce, but theirs was really tasty - nice amount of zing, not overly mustard-flavored, just right. Only complaint is the sandwiches were SO huge we didn't have room for any of their delicious-sounding desserts! Would definitely come again.

This place exceeds expectations - as a vegan, it has what I can eat. But, not just any "vegan" food. It is full of flavor, delicious and beats out all other restaurants in the area. It's atmosphere and service combined with food for all selections make its such a great place to bring your out of town friends! The rest of Canal Street may have closed when the sun went down; but, this place keeps going! And why not!? Imagine your favorite quaint bistro that are only found by real "foodies" in any large metropolitan city. This reflects that unique style with a front sidewalk seating area, a sensible bar seating area with booths lining the walls, and as you walk further into the back your mind is blown by a back patio area with umbrella covered seating with heat spacer units to keep the chill at bay as you & your gang enjoy the melodies played by the musicians as you hang out, enjoy your selection of beer or wine. The service is excellent in all areas and the entire place will have an amazing future in the sleepy beach town that rarely appreciates the more contemporary, organically stylish restaurants. Check it out and bring your gang! Oh and don't leave without the dessert!!

New to New Smyrna went downtown during the day the staff was so friendly decided to come back that evening. Again everyone was so welcoming and genuinely nice that evening .Who doesn't love great service? Ordered two beers Stella's on draft, enjoyed those so much and then waited and waited several minutes to get the attention of bartender for a second beer we were sitting at bar we were overlooked many times before and new people served before us while our two beers waited for refills we almost left. After went outside to the street festival and tried the pork sandwich sliders with potato salad. Absolutely delicious! I have lots of visitors coming, this will be on the list I could re rate to give 5 stars if food is consistent and bartender was more attentive and service is exceptional. I would have given 3.5 stars if I could but the friendliness of staff from earlier in day and that evening I gave benefit of doubt. I'll re rate after my next visit. Great decor great atmosphere loved the artist work throughout place food. Improve my service I'll update my rating

We recently tried this new place out. Ambiance is very cool. They were having a "soft" opening when we were there, so the menu was very limited. The pulled pork tacos were very good. The Elvis club (pulled pork, bacon, etc.) was also very good. However, the meals came with a very, very small side and a bag of chips. The prices would be fair if the sides were more available and a little larger in portion (2 bites = gone). Also, the mango and watermelon tea, as well as the cokes were @2.50 each with NO free refills. My friend ordered a fat tire beer and paid $5.00. We will give them another chance but probably will drink water. This place is good but a little pricey.
